Bigdog Forest is a nonprofit shelter in Paju, Gyeonggi-do. It's the bittersweet yet warm haven for large-breed and senior dogs who were saved from euthanasia but have waited over 10 years without finding a family.

Rescued just before euthanasia at a public shelter, these dogs have endured over 10 years in shelters without ever tasting home-cooked meals — simply because they are big and old. Bigdog Forest is the small nonprofit shelter that is their last place to lean on.
Without any government funding, the shelter is sustained solely by the donations of regular supporters and the devotion of volunteers.

Through the campaign running since 2023, 40 senior large-breed dogs in a single year received the gift of a forever family and left the shelter.

Rent for aging facilities, medical bills for sick dogs, heating and cooling, cleaning labor, and adoption/overseas flight costs — keeping the shelter running each month takes about 50 million KRW.
